What this amendment would do
As your analyst, I am here to break down what our elected officials are working on in plain English and keep them accountable. Ms. Blunt Rochester submitted amendment SA 1319 to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14, which sets the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and sets forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund. It aims to allow changes to budget allocations and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation that relates to preventing the prioritization of transportation grant funding based on marriage and birth rates. In plain terms, it sets aside a way to fund laws that stop transportation grant money from being given priority based on whether people are married or having children, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2025 and 2034.
