What this amendment would do
Mr. Padilla submitted amendment numbered SA 1226 to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal year 2025 budget.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting immigrant children from being locked in cages.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. These changes are for legislation relating to ensuring that the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security provide for the care of children in accordance with all appropriate laws, regulations, and court rulings, and that children are not locked in cages, provided the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through 2034.
