What this amendment would do
Mr. Padilla, along with Mr. Peters, Mr. Welch, Ms. Hirono, and Mr. Schiff, submitted amendment SA 1193 to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
What It Aims to Change or Add
- It adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund at the end of title III relating to supporting the lawful distribution of Federal disaster relief funds.
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
- These adjustments are for legislation relating to reaffirming the importance of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and supporting the lawful distribution of Federal disaster relief funds.
- It may include ensuring the timely distribution of Federal disaster relief funds to communities impacted by a disaster without delaying, withholding, or redirecting for political purposes.
- This applies provided that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
