What this amendment would do
Mr. Padilla submitted SA 1189, which aims to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund to the concurrent resolution. The purpose of this addition is to protect United States communities from fentanyl and other opioids.
Specifically, the amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments and revise allocations for legislation related to protecting communities from fentanyl and opioids. This includes legislation that reduces the illegal trafficking of firearms to criminal organizations operating in Mexico that are facilitating the illicit trade of narcotics and human trafficking.
To be included, the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2029 or fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
