What this amendment would do

Mr. Daines submitted amendment numbered SA 1148 to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to mandatory Forest Service timber sales at the end of title III.

It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

These changes are for legislation that meets specific goals:

  • Supporting local communities

  • Reducing the risk of wildfires

  • Increasing Federal revenues by requiring mandatory Forest Service timber sales

This applies as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
