What this amendment would do
As your legislative analyst, I want to keep things clear and hold our officials accountable to common sense. Mr. Daines submitted SA 1147, which proposes adding a new section to the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025.
What It Aims to Change or Add
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for increasing energy security.
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
- It makes adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation related to increasing energy security and Federal revenues.
- It supports an all-of-the above energy portfolio that includes hydropower, coal, oil, natural gas, wind, solar, geothermal, nuclear, biomass, and advancing technologies.
- It strictly requires that any such legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
