What this amendment would do
Mr. Padilla submitted amendment SA 1124 to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025. Plain and simple, this amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund to the bill.
Its Purpose
The purpose of this addition is to give the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget the power to change financial allocations and adjustments. This allows Congress to pass legislation providing support for the tracking of severe storms such as atmospheric rivers.
As we hold our officials accountable, it is worth noting the rule attached to this fund: any legislation passed for this purpose would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
