What this amendment would do
Mr. Padilla submitted SA 1120, which is an amendment intended to be proposed to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal year 2025 budget.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund at the end of title III relating to protecting Tribal mental health care and suicide prevention resources.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This is for legislation relating to protecting Tribal mental health care and suicide prevention resources, which may include:
- Prohibiting cuts to coverage and services
- Prohibiting the unjustified employment terminations of Indian Health Service employees
The amendment specifies that these changes can be made provided that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
