What this amendment would do
This amendment, submitted by Mr. Padilla, aims to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund to the concurrent resolution. The purpose of this fund is to honor the obligation of the Federal Government to Tribal nations and Tribal citizens by addressing the ongoing workforce shortage at the Indian Health Service.
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation related to this issue. The legislation may include:
-
Providing sufficient resources
-
Increasing efficiency in Federal program delivery
-
Reversing unjustified employment terminations of health care providers
The amendment requires that any such legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
