What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Stop Funding Religiously Oppressive Regimes Act of 2025," aims to stop U.S. financial aid to certain foreign governments. The President must first submit a report to Congress within 120 days identifying countries that use severe penalties like death or life imprisonment for religious reasons. These reasons include anti-apostasy laws, blasphemy laws, or laws banning interfaith marriage. Once a country is identified in this report, the U.S. government is prohibited from providing them with federal funds.
