Potential Positive Impacts for People
-
Medical Support for Astronauts: The bill allows for transportation necessary for post-mission activities, which includes medical research, monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment (Sec. 2. (a)(3)). This ensures individuals can receive essential care before they are cleared to operate a motor vehicle.
-
Authorized Transportation Logistics: The Administrator has the authority to maintain, operate, and repair passenger carriers to provide this transportation (Sec. 2. (b)(2)). This creates a structured way to handle the movement of individuals following a mission.
Potential Negative Impacts for People
- Financial Reimbursement Requirements: International partner astronauts or space flight participants who are not employees of the United States Government must reimburse the Treasury for their transportation (Sec. 2. (c)). This could create a financial burden or unexpected cost for these specific individuals.
