Potential Positive Impacts for People
-
Section 2(a) makes certain federal land identified in a November 2020 report immediately available for selection by eligible Alaska Native Vietnam era veterans. This is positive because it follows through on making specific National Wildlife Refuge System lands available for their land allotment program.
-
Section 2(b)(2) adds a new subsection (e) to the existing law, requiring the Secretary of Agriculture to identify available federal land within units of the National Forest System that can be chosen for land allotments. This is positive because it opens up additional paths for eligible individuals to select land, while explicitly excluding wilderness areas, timber lands, and land near navigable waters to protect management plans and natural resources.
Potential Negative Impacts for People
