What this bill would do

This bill, known as the ``Delaney Hall Closure Act'', directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to end immigration detention operations at the Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Secretary must cease all such operations within 90 days of the Act's enactment. Additionally, the Secretary is prohibited from entering into any new contracts or agreements to use the facility for detaining aliens in the Department's custody. The Secretary is also required to terminate existing contracts for the operation of the center in the Government's interest.
