What this bill would do

The Ride in Freedom Act aims to stop the District of Columbia from requiring people to wear protective helmets while riding a motorcycle or motor-driven cycle. It prevents the D.C. Council from making such rules and the Mayor from enforcing them. The bill specifically repeals existing helmet requirements found in the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations. It also makes changes to the District of Columbia Home Rule Act to ensure these restrictions are in place. This legislation targets both motorcycles and motor-driven cycles.
