What this bill would do
The Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Expansion Act authorizes the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to create a cybersecurity apprenticeship pilot program. This program aims to employ participants in cyber workforce positions within the Department of Homeland Security. Additionally, the bill establishes a pilot program providing cybersecurity training at no cost to veterans, members of the Armed Forces transitioning to civilian life, and military spouses. These initiatives are intended to address the national and federal shortage of qualified cybersecurity personnel. The Act also extends the Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Assessment through 2028.
