What this bill would do
The "Honor Gold Star Families Act" proposes to change title 10 of the United States Code. It increases the death gratuity for families of deceased members of the Armed Forces from $100,000 to $200,000. This increase applies to deaths occurring on or after January 1, 2026. The bill also creates an annual cost-of-living adjustment starting January 1, 2027. These adjustments will be based on the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers.
