What this bill would do
This bill establishes a United States-Ukraine Strategic Defense Innovation Working Group to focus on unmanned systems and related technology. The working group brings together officials from the Department of Defense, the Defense Innovation Unit, and Ukrainian representatives to work on co-developing, co-producing, acquiring, and transferring these defense systems. It requires the working group to look at lessons learned from Ukraine's military and defense industry, develop defense trade agreements, and explore testing United States-manufactured systems in Ukraine. The bill also prioritizes certain Ukraine-designed systems for acquisition and production in the United States while analyzing supply chain components. Finally, the working group must provide briefings and reports to congressional defense committees and is set to terminate after five years unless extended.
