What this bill would do

This bill is known as the Election Security Partnership Act. It provides extra money for election security to states that share their voter registration information. Under Section 2, the Election Assistance Commission is given $20,000,000 for these payments. To qualify, a state must already receive money from the 2026 election security grant program. An eligible state also must sign an agreement with the Secretary of Homeland Security. This agreement requires the state to hand over its complete, official list of registered voters every quarter starting after September 30, 2026. The Department of Homeland Security will use this list with the SAVE system to find individuals who are not United States citizens.
