What this bill would do

The DHS Hiring Review Act aims to improve the hiring and training processes for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The Under Secretary for Management will conduct an audit to ensure hiring requirements and background checks meet Office of Personnel Management standards. Additionally, the Under Secretary must cross-reference new employees with State-level misconduct files. The Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers is required to certify that all agents and officers have completed their required training and indicate the length of that training. Finally, the Government Accountability Office must submit a report to congressional committees regarding these audits and training pass/fail rates.
