What this bill would do

The "Private Detention Accountability Act" requires the Office of Detention Oversight to audit facilities where aliens are detained. The Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement must report audit results and remediation actions to specific Senate and House committees within 30 days of completion. Additionally, the bill prevents new aliens from being housed in these facilities until an audit is finished, deficiencies are fixed, and the required report is submitted. This applies to new facilities and existing ones that have already been audited.
