What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Miranda Vargas School Bus Driver Red Flag Act," requires the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to implement a national employer notification service. This service would automatically provide employers with reports regarding changes in a commercial driver's license status, such as convictions or suspensions. The Secretary of Transportation must issue regulations for this service within one year. States are then required to use the service within two years of that regulation. Certain employers, including those involving school transportation, must participate in the program.
