What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Citizen Ballot Protection Act," seeks to amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. It allows a State to include a requirement on its mail voter registration form for applicants to provide proof of United States citizenship. This change would apply to registrations for Federal office. The amendment also updates a reference from the "Federal Election Commission" to the "Election Assistance Commission." The provisions in Section 2 are set to take effect on the date the Act is enacted.
