What this bill would do
The Stop 8(a) Contracting Fraud Act stops the Small Business Administration from awarding sole source contracts under section 8(a)(16) of the Small Business Act. This stop remains in place until the Administration finishes an audit of the business development program started on June 27, 2025, and sends a report of the findings to the relevant House and Senate committees. There is a waiver process available if a contracting officer decides a sole source contract is necessary for national security.
