What this bill would do
The "Healthcare Opportunities for Patriots in Exile Act," or "HOPE Act," amends the Immigration and Nationality Act. It allows the Secretary of Homeland Security to grant parole to certain alien veterans to enter the United States. This parole is specifically for the purpose of receiving health care from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. The process is handled on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Secretary.
