What this bill would do

The "Make the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful Act" establishes a program to beautify the District of Columbia. This program requires the Secretary of the Interior to coordinate a plan to maintain cleanliness and restore public monuments and properties. Additionally, the bill creates the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful Commission. This Commission is tasked with recommending actions regarding immigration enforcement, crime reduction, and law enforcement presence. The Commission will also work on issues such as forensic laboratory accreditation and transit system crime. Both the Program and the Commission are scheduled to terminate on January 2, 2029.
