What this bill would do
The Health Records Enhancement Act requires the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to work together to update the health records of deceased veterans. These updates can include observed health conditions and other relevant health information. The information can be provided by a person designated by the deceased or, if no one was designated, by an immediate family member. The departments must establish a process for individuals to make these designations within one year of the Act's enactment. This process applies to deceased enrollees of the Department of Veterans Affairs or those entitled to TRICARE care.
