What this bill would do
This bill, known as the ``Streamlining American Manufacturing Strategy Act'', proposes amendments to the National Institute of Standards and Technology Act. The primary goal is to change how the strategic plan for the Manufacturing USA Program is updated. It moves the requirement from updating the plan every 3 years to updating it at least once every 4 years. This change is intended to align the program's planning cycle with the National Strategy for Advanced Manufacturing. By doing this, the program aims to better reflect national strategy priorities.

Potential Positive Impacts for People
- Alignment of Priorities: Under Section 2(a)(3), the bill updates the strategic plan to align the planning cycle with the National Strategy for Advanced Manufacturing. This is intended to better ensure the Manufacturing USA Program reflects the priorities of the national strategy.
Potential Negative Impacts for People
- Reduced Frequency of Updates: Section 2(a)(1) strikes the requirement to update the strategic plan "not less frequently than once every 3 years" and replaces it with a requirement of "not less frequently than once every 4 years." This results in a longer gap between mandatory strategic plan updates.
