What this bill would do
This bill, titled the ``No Community Development Block Grants for Sanctuary Cities Act'', aims to prohibit sanctuary jurisdictions from receiving community development block grants. It defines a sanctuary jurisdiction as a State or political subdivision that has a policy or practice restricting the exchange of information regarding an individual's citizenship or immigration status. It also includes provisions regarding compliance with Department of Homeland Security requests for detainers or notifications. The bill amends the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 to include these restrictions. Under this Act, a grantee must not be a sanctuary jurisdiction and must not become one during the grant period.
