What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Stratton Ridge Air Force Memorial Act," provides authorization for the Secretary of Agriculture to relocate a specific memorial. The memorial honors nine Air Force crew members who died in a C-141B transport plane crash on August 31, 1982. The proposed relocation would move the memorial to the Stratton Ridge rest area at mile marker 2 on the Cherohala Skyway in North Carolina. This move requires the consent of the owner of the private land where the memorial is currently located. The Secretary of Agriculture must also approve the new site in concurrence with the North Carolina Department of Transportation and, if applicable, the Federal Highway Administration.
