What this bill would do
This bill, titled the "Confronting CCP Human Rights Abusers Act," focuses on restricting specific Chinese entities. It requires the Under Secretary of Commerce to place the Ministry of Public Security's Institute of Forensic Science of China on the entity list maintained by the Bureau of Industry and Security. This inclusion covers the institute as well as its aliases, the Forensic Identification Center and the Material Identification Center. The President can waive this requirement if they certify that the institute is not acting against U.S. foreign policy interests or contributing to human rights abuses in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
