What this bill would do
The "Truth in Tariffs Act" requires sellers to provide transparency regarding how certain tariffs affect the prices of goods. Starting 30 days after enactment, sellers must display the portion of a price attributed to a covered tariff as a "tariff surcharge." This must be shown to consumers in a clear and conspicuous manner. The law does not apply to sales made by small business concerns. The Federal Trade Commission is tasked with enforcing these requirements. Violations will be treated as unfair or deceptive acts or practices.
