What this bill would do
This bill, titled the "DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act," aims to restrict Department of Homeland Security funding for colleges and universities. It targets institutions of higher education that maintain a relationship with a Confucius Institute or a Chinese entity of concern. A relationship is defined as any contract, agreement, in-kind donation, or gift received from these entities. To remain eligible for DHS funds, these institutions must terminate their relationship with the specified entities. These restrictions would take effect starting the first fiscal year after a 12-month period following the Act's enactment.
