What this bill would do
The Alex Gate Safety Act of 2025 directs the Consumer Product Safety Commission to create a safety standard for certain gates. These "covered gates" include automatic or manual vehicular gates, as well as any gate wider than 48 inches or taller than 84 inches. The bill requires gates to meet specific safety-related standards such as ASTM or ANSI/CAN/UL requirements. It also establishes a process for the Commission to adopt revised voluntary standards. Additionally, the Commission must launch a national education campaign regarding gate dangers and prevention methods. Finally, the Commission is required to report its campaign actions to Congress.
