What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "International Quantum Research Exchange Act," directs the Secretary of State to create a quantum cooperation program. The program aims to increase international collaboration in quantum information science. It does this by providing competitive matching grants to higher education institutions or nonprofit organizations for research. Additionally, the program supports scientist exchange programs of various lengths. To ensure security, the Secretary must align the program with national strategies and coordinate with specific high-level officials. The program is authorized to receive $20,000,000 for fiscal year 2026 and will expire 10 years after enactment.
