What this bill would do
The Rural Housing Accessibility Act requires certain public housing agencies to absorb port-in housing choice vouchers. It defines a covered public housing agency as one utilizing less than 95 percent of its available budget authority. The bill mandates that these agencies must notify the initial agency if they will absorb the voucher or bill them for a limited time. If they choose to bill, they can only do so for a period of no more than 12 months. The goal is to manage how portable families seek rental units outside of their initial agency's jurisdiction.
