What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "PILOT Act," directs the Secretary of Defense to study expanding pathways for civilian test pilot school graduates. The goal is to allow these graduates to serve as test pilots and flight test engineers for military testing activities. The Secretary must coordinate with the secretaries of the military departments to complete this task. A report must be submitted to the House and Senate Committees on Armed Services by January 1, 2027. This report will evaluate the feasibility of modifying current agency instructions to include all graduates from accredited civilian schools.
