What this bill would do
This bill, titled the "Restoring Integrity and Efficiency to Inspector General Oversight Act of 2026," aims to abolish the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency. The Council would be eliminated one year after the Act is enacted. Consequently, various functions currently held by the Council would be transferred to other entities, such as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and the Comptroller General of the United States. Additionally, the Act directs the transfer of the Council's revolving fund to the Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers. All personnel currently serving in the Council would be separated from the civil service upon the abolishment date.
