What this bill would do

This bill, called the "Third World Immigration Moratorium Act," stops people from entering the United States if they are nationals of 40 listed countries of identified concern. It also blocks entry for people with travel documents from the Palestinian Authority. The rule only applies to people outside the U.S. who do not already have a valid visa. There are specific exceptions for groups like lawful permanent residents and certain athletes. The Secretary of Homeland Security can waive the ban for critical national interests. The Secretary of State must report to Congress every 180 days on whether the ban should continue or change.
