What this bill would do
This bill is known as the AIR CARE for Vets Act of 2026. It directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to set up a pilot program using specific software to identify lung diseases and breathing disorders in veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs will lease this software from an eligible developer. The program's leasing authority ends five years after the Act is enacted. A report evaluating the pilot program must be given to Congress no later than two years after that authority expires. The bill authorizes $5,000,000 for each fiscal year from 2027 through 2031 to carry this out.
