What this bill would do
The "Boat Loan Interest Deduction Act of 2026" proposes to change the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. It would allow taxpayers to deduct loan interest payments for certain watercraft. To qualify, the watercraft must be a motorboat and a recreational vessel. The boat must also have been assembled in the United States and its original use must start with the taxpayer. This change would apply to debt taken on after December 31, 2025.
