What this bill would do
This bill is known as the Preventing Stomach Cancer in Our Nation's Heroes Act. It orders the Secretary of Defense to deliver a report to the armed services committees in Congress within 180 days of the bill becoming law. This report must include a plan, a cost estimate, and a feasibility study for testing members of the Armed Forces for helicobacter pylori, commonly called H. pylori, while they are transitioning to civilian life. The cost estimate must cover breath and stool-based testing methods. Finally, the Secretary of Defense is allowed to seek input from physician experts and gastroenterologists while preparing the report.
