What this bill would do
The "Hands Off Elections Act of 2026" prohibits employees of Executive agencies from participating in or directing others to participate in the administration of Federal elections. This restriction does not apply if the employee is authorized by specific Federal laws or is not acting in their capacity as an agency employee. It allows state chief law enforcement officers to seek injunctive relief in court for violations. The bill does not stop Federal employees from helping with cybersecurity for voting systems. It excludes the United States Postal Service from the definition of an Executive agency.
