What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Advancing Next-Generation Genetic Learning for Effective Resource Strategy Act," directs the Secretary of the Interior to create a grant program. The program provides funding to eligible entities to use eDNA monitoring techniques for sport fish surveys. Eligible groups include state, local, and Tribal governments, nonprofits, and institutions of higher education. The goal is to improve how sport fish populations and invasive species are monitored. The bill authorizes $4,000,000 annually from fiscal years 2027 through 2033.
