What this bill would do
The "Tax Dollar Accountability Act" requires State, local governments, and municipalities that receive Federal funds to give the Comptroller General of the United States access to specific financial records. These records include budgets, expenditure reports, and contracts needed to audit or evaluate how Federal funds are handled. States must provide access to these records for the preceding fiscal year every year. If a State does not comply, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget can withhold, suspend, or condition those Federal funds.
