What this bill would do
This bill establishes the Veteran Scam Victims Foundation as a charitable and nonprofit corporation. The Foundation's primary goal is to prevent veterans and their beneficiaries from becoming victims of scams. It is authorized to encourage and administer private gifts to fund activities such as educating veterans about scams and supporting them after they have been victimized. The Foundation's board will include the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and several private citizens appointed by various government officials. While the Foundation can provide education and support, it is expressly prohibited from providing compensation for monetary losses.
