What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "TREAT PTSD VA Act," directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to provide stellate ganglion block treatments to veterans. To qualify, a veteran must be enrolled in the patient enrollment system and have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. The veteran must also elect to receive the treatment after being informed of the risks and benefits by a qualified health care provider. The Secretary can provide this care through a Department medical facility or a specified health care provider. Additionally, the bill requires an update to the VA/DOD Clinical Practice Guideline for the Management of PTSD to include this therapy option.
