What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Keep Immigration Enforcement Out of Schools Act" or the "No ICE in Schools Act," aims to restrict how student data is used. It would prohibit Federal education funds from being provided to any educational agency or institution that shares records for immigration enforcement. Under this Act, schools cannot have a policy or practice of releasing education records or other student information for such purposes. The only exception would be if there is written consent from the student's parents. This consent must specify the information to be released, the reasons for the release, and the recipient.
