This bill, known as the "RESTART Communities Act of 2026," directs the Secretary of Commerce and the Administrator of the EPA to collaborate on economic revitalization for environmentally contaminated sites. The goal is to coordinate activities through the Economic Development Administration and the EPA before, during, and after environmental remediation. This collaboration may include establishing a memorandum of understanding to streamline processes and support site stakeholders. The agencies can provide technical assistance, access to Federal grant and loan programs, and support for workforce development. Additionally, the bill authorizes consultation with various government entities and requires a report to Congress within three years.
