What this bill would do
The Expeditionary Diplomacy Act aims to encourage the practice of expeditionary diplomacy within the Department of State. The bill requires the Secretary of State to define "expeditionary diplomacy" and how it applies to high-security risk environments. It mandates a report from the Comptroller General to identify challenges and recommendations regarding these diplomatic practices. The Act also amends the Foreign Service Act of 1980 to include risk management practices for Chiefs of Mission. Additionally, it establishes a "Tiger Team" to produce specific recommendations to improve the ability of personnel to conduct this type of diplomacy.
