What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Build the Wall Act of 2205," aims to create the Southern Border Wall Construction Fund. The Fund would be established as a separate account within the general fund of the Treasury. To fund this, the bill directs the immediate deposit of all unobligated amounts from the Coronavirus State and local fiscal recovery funds. These funds are originally established under sections 602 and 603 of the Social Security Act. The Secretary of Homeland Security would then use these funds for specific purposes. The ultimate goal is to construct and maintain physical barriers along the southern international border of the United States.
